Freedom of $peech

FREEDOM OF $PEECH?

The proposed sale of Philadelphia's two major newspapers to a Democrat-leaning group led by former Governor Ed Rendell, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, raises concerns about political bias.  Pennsylvania is considered an important swing-State in the upcoming Presidential election.  Reporters and writers for both papers have signed a statement calling out the paper's owners for censoring their written coverage of the proposed sale.

I’ve already been the subject of slanted media bias during the last few election cycles.  The Las Vegas Review Journal repeatedly “rescheduled” my appointment until it was too late for an interview and “lost” my photograph that was for their election information edition.  Local radio talk-show hostess Heidi Harris conveniently forgot that I was a declared Republican candidate for Congress and scheduled her “Great Republican Debate” without my being included.  And I STILL won the primary election handily.

Media ownership equals political power, but when you abuse your ownership by slanting coverage it's just wrong.

HOPE AND CHANGE?

When Barack Obama was campaigning for President, he repeatedly spoke about "hope" and "change" for America.  Now, three years into his term, gasoline prices in Florida are approaching $6 per gallon at some gas stations, up from around $2 when Barack was elected.  Ouch!  That’s a lot of change!

The President needs to be re-educated regarding energy policy:  When he torpedoed the proposed plans for the Keystone pipeline project, which was to be built to transport crude oil from our Canadian neighbors up north to Texas for refining - he didn't help the situation.  We need less expensive (affordable) energy to power our economy if we are going to recover and right now our economy runs on oil.

The Obama Administration should get with the program and embrace ALL domestic sources of crude oil, rather than caving to the Environmentalists.  Keystone would not only increase crude oil supply, but provide tens of thousands of jobs in construction while it was being built.  China is drilling for new oil sources in the Gulf of Mexico – why aren’t we?

CAN’T ASK, WON’T TELL!

Illegal immigration is a huge problem for our Country.  A program, known as 287(g), run by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division is being shut down.  This program allowed ICE officials to train local police officers to work as their department’s immigration officers.  These officers would check immigration status of suspects and even place immigration holds on them.  We need MORE trained officers watching our collective backs, not LESS.

Sorry for What?

SORRY FOR WHAT?

We’ve all heard the news story about the Qurans that were burned by troops because they were being used to transmit messages between radical Muslim prisoners in detention facilities in Afghanistan.

Our apologist of a President has already condemned the disposal methods and expressed his sorrow to the Muslim community.   Afghani President Hamid Karzai and other outraged Muslims demand that the soldiers responsible for the disposal of the books face public trial in Afghanistan.  Obama assured them in a letter that those responsible will be sought out and disciplined.

How about an increase in rank and a raise in pay?

Brother, Can You Lend Me a Dime? I'll Pay It Back

BROTHER CAN YOU LEND A DIME (AND I’LL NEVER PAY IT BACK)?

Fannie Mae lost ANOTHER $2.4 BILLION in the fourth quarter of 2011.  They blame it on declining home prices.  This after WE (the taxpayers) already bailed them out to the tune of $116 BILLION.  This past Wednesday, Fannie Mae asked the Federal government for another 4.6 BILLION to cover their current deficit.

Enough is enough.  Congress needs to do SOMETHING about this money hemorrhage.

What I Like About Ken Wegner

I spoke with a disabled veteran who is running for Congress today and he was told by the ‘experts’ that he can’t win because he won’t take campaign contributions from lobbyists and PACs.  This disabled combat veteran’s son Brandon, serving in the US Army in Afghanistan, was wounded and given the option to return home.  Instead, like his father before him, this son chose to return to his unit so that he could stay in the fight.  The candidate is Kenneth Wegner, from Nevada’s new Congressional District 4, and the only announced Republican candidate who actually lives in CD4.

Media and radio talk shows ignore him.  Establishment Republicans refuse to acknowledge his candidacy, even going so far as to announce their ‘official’ candidate for Nevada’s new Congressional District 4 (who happens to be a Nevada Republican party insider) before Nevada’s Primary election is even held.  No surprise there, though.  Kenneth doesn’t fit neatly into their plans for you and I.

Wegner says: “We have the best politicians that lobbyists can buy and I think that is a HUGE problem.”

He has refused money from PACs and special interest groups for almost ten years and, even with only private donations, he still won three Republican primaries in Nevada’s old Congressional District 1.  I’ve read Ken’s pledge to his supporters and it actually gave me goose bumps - he’s a true conservative.  From securing our borders to using only American companies to fill government contracts – his stance actually makes sense to a hard-core conservative like me.

We should get together and set a precedent: Let’s show the Republican establishment that we want our country back.  We need to support a candidate like Kenneth Wegner who will stand up for each of us in Congress without any debts to lobbyists, PACs or special interest groups to repay.  So if you have an extra $10 or $20 why don’t you send it to a real conservative candidate like Kenneth Wegner?  That’s what I’m going to do right now at wegnerforcongress.com.
